Single 60s vs SilverSingles

Two sites for later life, set side by side: who each one suits, how you meet people, and what you get before you pay.

The short answer

Single 60s suits people over 60 who want friendship or dating at an easy pace, with daily suggestions and a free account that includes some messages every day. SilverSingles suits singles from 50 upward who like knowing that every visible profile has passed a selfie video check. Both are free to join, with paid plans for more.

Neither site is wrong for everyone. They simply make different choices, and the one that fits you depends on your age, how you like to find people and how much you want to do before paying. The table gives the headline differences; the sections below explain them.

Who is each site for?

SilverSingles describes itself as a site for singles over 50, and its service agreement requires every member to be at least 50. If you are in your early fifties and want people your own age, that firm floor is a plus.

Single 60s is made for people in their sixties, seventies and beyond. Any adult aged 18 or over may join, so the site does not police age at the door. Instead you choose the age range your suggestions come from, and you only see the people you asked for. You also say what kind of relationship you want, and friendship is one of the choices, which helps if a friend for days out is what you really want.

How does matching work on each?

On SilverSingles you browse profile cards, narrow them with filters, and send likes and comments. When two people like each other, they become a match. Its paid tier adds curated daily matches and priority recommendations. Older reviews often mention a SilverSingles personality test, but the current site does not describe one, so treat those reviews with care.

Single 60s works differently. Each day you get a set of suggestions chosen from the things you told us: your preferred age range, gender, distance, how active people are on the site, the kind of relationship you want, habits such as smoking and drinking, interests and religious beliefs. Alongside those you can browse and search on your own, and message anyone who interests you without waiting for a mutual like. VIP members get advanced search filters, including city and distance.

What can free members do?

SilverSingles offers a free Standard membership that lets you join, create a profile, view potential matches and receive recommended profiles, though communication with other members is limited. Its paid plan, Silver Select, adds private messaging, advanced filters, curated daily matches, unlimited likes, profile rewinds, seeing who likes or viewed you, voice messages, and voice or video chat with your phone number kept private.

A free Single 60s account is meant to be used, not just looked at. You get a full profile with photos, browsing and daily suggestions, plus status updates, comments and a set number of messages each day. You can also read and reply to messages from any paid member. VIP lifts the daily limit and adds chat rooms, private group chats of up to 50, rewinding profiles you passed on and seeing everyone who likes you. Plans and prices are on our pricing page.

How do the two sites check members are real?

This is where SilverSingles is strongest. Before a profile becomes visible, the member must add a clear main photo and record a brief selfie video, which is compared with their photos and not shown on the profile. The site is open that this does not confirm every profile detail or anyone's intentions. It also describes scam filters, content reviews, reporting and blocking.

On Single 60s, verification is free and optional. You can verify your ID for a Verified badge, or do a short video check with a moderator, with no documents needed. Photos and profile text are screened when they're uploaded, by AI and by people, behavior on the site is monitored, and you get a warning if someone tries to move your chat to another app. Real names are never shown, only a username and your nearest town or city. Human support runs 24/7. Neither site runs criminal background checks; SilverSingles says so plainly, and so do we. The safety page has the full detail.

Apps and devices

SilverSingles has apps for iPhone and Android as well as a website, all using one account. Single 60s has no app to install. Open it in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer you already own, and pin it to your home screen if you want it a tap away.

Which should you choose?

Choose SilverSingles if you are in your fifties, you like the idea that every profile has passed a video check before you can see it, and you want voice and video calls inside the app. One thing worth knowing: its service agreement says profiles can be shared with members who join through affiliated sites, so your profile may be seen beyond SilverSingles itself.

Choose Single 60s if you are over 60, you want people put in front of you each day without swiping, and you would like to send a few messages for free before deciding whether to pay. It is also a natural fit if friendship is as welcome as romance. There is nothing to stop you trying both, since each is free to join. Single 60s is for adults 18+, and made for the over 60s.
