Who is OurTime for, and who is Single 60s for?
OurTime launched in 2011, bringing together the members of two earlier sites for older singles. It is run by People Media, part of Match Group, and its homepage is pitched at men and women over 50, with age choices that begin at 50. If you are in your fifties and like the reassurance of a well-known company behind the site, OurTime makes sense.
Single 60s starts a decade later. The site is written for people in their sixties, seventies and eighties, many of whom have been married for years and are not sure where to start again. How does matching work?
OurTime describes its approach as smart matchmaking. You browse profiles in the Discover tab, like the ones that appeal, and receive curated daily matches. Once two people match, they can start chatting. It also has Topics, a space for posting and joining in on subjects you care about.
Single 60s also sends you people each day, chosen using your age range, gender, distance, the kind of relationship you want, lifestyle habits such as smoking and drinking, your interests and your religious beliefs, along with how active each person is. You are not limited to those suggestions. You can browse and search by yourself, and write to someone without waiting for them to like you first. For a sense of community beyond one-to-one messages, members can post status updates and comment on them, and VIP adds chat rooms and private group chats for up to 50 people.
What do free members get?
According to its app listing, a free OurTime member can build a profile, use search, post in Topics and receive curated daily matches. Premium adds seeing who liked you, read receipts, a profile Boost and Super Likes. We could not confirm the exact limits on free messaging, so check the app before you rely on it.
On Single 60s, a free member gets a full profile and photos, browsing, daily suggestions and a daily allowance of messages, and can answer paid members' messages whenever they arrive. VIP removes the daily limit, adds advanced filters such as city and distance, and lets you rewind profiles you passed on.
